'The right decision'
After negotiations, the 31-year-old has signed the new three-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, and said: "It's a dream come true. I am very happy. I've made the right decision as I have felt at home here since 2003." Since joining Sporting from SC Corinthians, Liedson has become one of the highest-rated players in Portugal, scoring 97 goals in 170 league matches, and 17 times in 26 Liga games last term. He also became Sporting's highest scorer in Europe with 19 goals when he registered in the 5-2 defeat against FC Barcelona at the Estádio José Alvalade in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage. Sporting enter the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.
