Understudy
The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will act as understudy to Petr Čech along with Henrique Hilário, 33, who has himself extended his contract at Chelsea until 2011. Turnbull started at Middlesbrough but has spent much of his professional career out on loan to lower-division clubs. He made his Premier League debut in 2006 and played 22 of his top-flight 27 games for Middlesbrough last season as the north-east club were relegated. Chelsea enter this year's UEFA Champions League at the group stage.
