Muntari ready for Old Trafford repeat

Nobody at FC Internazionale Milano is likely to turn to Sulley Muntari for travel tips but his team-mates could do worse than ask the Ghanaian midfielder how to safely negotiate a cup tie at Manchester United FC.

Nobody at FC Internazionale Milano is likely to turn to Sulley Muntari for travel tips but his team-mates could do worse than ask the Ghana midfielder how to negotiate a cup tie at Old Trafford.

Late arrival
Muntari, who flew into England on a later flight than his colleagues after arriving at Milan's Malpensa airport on Monday without his passport, has fond memories of facing Manchester United FC at the self-styled 'Theatre of Dreams', having scored the only goal of former club Portsmouth FC's FA Cup quarter-final here on 8 March last year.

Defied the odds
That 78th-minute penalty kick helped Portsmouth on their way to a first major honour since 1950 as they went on to lift the cup with a final victory against Cardiff City FC at Wembley, in what was Muntari's last appearance before his summer switch to Inter. Although his first experience of facing United ended in a red card on his home debut for Portsmouth in August 2007, having defied the odds against the UEFA Champions League holders once, he sees no reason why he cannot do it again with José Mourinho's Italian champions in the second leg of this first knockout round contest.

'We can do it'
"We know full well this stadium has a great atmosphere – my team-mates have played in a lot of big atmospheres before," said Muntari, who scored four times in 29 Premier League matches for Portsmouth. "We are here to play a game, we won't be thinking about the crowd but concentrating on what we have to do. Of course we can do it, why not? We are here to play football and to win. We want to do that, it is not going to be an easy task, but that is why we are here and we will will do everything we can to get through."
