It's a happy moment, above all for the players, for their work, attitude and capacity to come through some adverse moments. My congratulations go to them as we achieved our goal in a match that was not always great but competitive and played with high intensity. We were solid in defence but not so strong in attack during the first half. In the second half we were a more balanced and consistent team. It's a fair win as we created many chances and had the best opportunities to score. We are happy to reach this goal but there is still a lot work to do. I went through what I had to go through. To win you must have quality, be able to get through hard periods, be organised and have team spirit. We are still searching for that quality in attack but I have to praise our team spirit. We haven't conceded for five games in a row and have scored in every Champions League match. We have improved and evolved in European competitions. We haven't won anything but we are doing things in the right way as Sporting have never before played in the Champions League in February.

Mircea Lucescu, Shakhtar coach
We have made some mistakes and committed too many fouls in the centre of midfield and near our penalty area. Sporting are a strong team, have more experience than us and profited from our errors, just like they did in Ukraine. They were more aggressive in attack, particularly Liedson, and also with Derlei. I tried to change things with Luiz Adriano, who is a fast player. He played because he was in a good condition to play. We hope to avoid making the same mistakes in our next match [at home to Basel].
