Rehabilitation
The 28-year-old Romania defender was forced out after 74 minutes of the game in Reggio Calabria and underwent tests on Sunday. "He will undergo conservative therapy instead of surgery, and will begin a rehabilitation programme in the coming days," reads a statement on Inter's website ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League Group B visit to Anorthosis Famagusta FC on Tuesday, when a win would take José Mourinho's team through.
Mourinho blow
Chivu has played six games in Serie A and one in the UEFA Champions League this season, and Inter coach José Mourinho said: "It's a pity because we had found a certain stability in defence but now I will have to find an alternative option." Mourinho has also excluded striker Adriano from the squad to go to Cyprus after the Brazilian turned up late to training last Monday and was also left out of the subsequent the Serie A games against ACF Fiorentina and Reggina.
