It was a good performance. For 90 minutes we sustained good momentum. Berbatov was fantastic; it was a marvellous performance. He is bringing that composure to the final third of the field. Hopefully the combination is developing, not only with Wayne but also Carlos [Tévez], but he had a little hip injury tonight so we took him off. The speed of our play was really good. It took a bit of time for us to have shots on goal but there was always a threat about it, Maybe we were a bit fortuitous with the first goal, it was a bit scrappy but you take them. In the second half we were superior and the second goal killed the game. It is not easy to leave players like Tévez out of your team, he didn't come back on time from international duty to play on Saturday, but the consistency Berbatov and Rooney have shown makes it hard to leave them out. [Cristiano] Ronaldo demanded to play this morning, he said he was not tired. I listened to his youthful wisdom.

Gordon Strachan, Celtic manager
That's the best side we've played. Physically we couldn't match them and that told the longer the game went on. I'm a football man and I know when we're well beaten. We kept taking punches and two or three of my players must have been pleased, but there were two or three who wouldn't have been. It's a wake-up call for all our players: if you want to play at the top level then that's what you're aiming for. I said to the players at the end of the game we can't be faulted for guts or determination but we're nowhere near as good as them passing the ball. We're still building in terms of the personnel we need to come here. I felt we had got over our real problems in the first 15 minutes then they got a goal from a set-piece. We tried to compete but that's one of the best performances I've ever come across. I'm pleased it wasn't a rout! I'm still seeing a red tide coming towards me. We'll keep playing away but it's going to be very hard. We want a good performance. We want to give our fans a good game at home. But it will need to be some team to beat them.
