Klinsmann impressed by early promise

Coach Jürgen Klinsmann said he quickly realised that FC Bayern München were on top of their game in their 3-0 rout of ACF Fiorentina that left his opposite number Cesare Prandelli ruing mistakes and missed chances.

I realised in the first ten minutes: we are present, we are awake, we will fight. Our physical condition is great and we're on a hot streak, that's obvious. It was an attacking and open match and there were a lot of chances on both sides, even 3-2 would have been possible. We tried to keep up our rhythm and pace over 90 minutes. I was very content because little by little the hard work we put in during pre-season is paying off. We know Franck Ribéry still needs time to get into his best shape, but the team supported him whenever he needed a short break.

Mistakes are a part of football, otherwise every match would end 0-0. It's always harder to play if you are one or two goals behind. We had chances to equalise, sometimes we only missed the goal by millimetres. It was a worthwhile experience for us, we've got a very young team and in a few years perhaps we can be as successful as Bayern in the UEFA Champions League. We must not make mistakes. We now have two points from three games and must try to get the necessary points in our two remaining home matches to reach the next round.
