Maurizio Trombetta said CFR 1907 Cluj had enjoyed "a fantastic evening" after holding Chelsea FC to a goalless draw in Group A. The Romanian champions, he added, "could have done more" but "proved they are a big team" against a Chelsea side who according to their manager Luiz Felipe Scolari were ultimately happy to settle for a point. With Didier Drogba carried off injured in the second half, a concerned Scolari was already looking ahead to Sunday's Premier League visit of Aston Villa FC. Both clubs are setting the pace with four points in the section ahead of Matchday 3 fixtures, when CFR travel to FC Girondins de Bordeaux and AS Roma visit London.

Maurizio Trombetta, CFR Cluj coach
I'm very satisfied with the result and with how the players played as well as with the atmosphere the fans created in the stadium. It was a fantastic evening. We managed to draw with a team which almost won the Champions League [last season]. The players gave everything on the pitch, so I am happy. I didn't see any tired players so that's why I only made one substitution and that was for tactical reasons. Of course we could have done more, there is always room for improvement, but even so we proved we are a big team. We are equal with Chelsea on four points, but our target is still to finish third in the group. Chelsea also gave everything, but they could not do more. Bordeaux have lost twice, but every team that qualifies for the group stage of the Champions League deserves respect. Bordeaux are also a very strong team, so we can't think it will be an easy game against them.

Luiz Felipe Scolari, Chelsea manager
We did not play as well as we have in other games, but in the end I am happy with a point. It is a good result because Didier was out injured, while John Terry and Alex played 50 minutes with problems. It was impossible to do more. Obviously we did not play well. The players tried, I cannot blame them. Sometimes people say the pitch isn't OK, but the pitch here was OK. Injuries occur in training and during matches. At this level injuries occur all the time, even in London. We knew Terry and Alex had problems, but I spoke before the match with the doctor. I don't know what options I have for Sunday's match. I have to think about which players I will use on Sunday. This was the first match since I have been Chelsea manager that we have not scored.
