Klinsmann gives praise to 'lion' Demichelis

FC Bayern München coach Jürgen Klinsmann singled out defender Martín Demichelis for praise despite his own goal in the home draw with Olympique Lyonnais that Claude Puel described as "a pretty good result".

Jürgen Klinsmann, Bayern coach
We have seen an exciting and interesting match of a high standard. We would have preferred to win amd had a lot of pressure, especially in the second half – but it wasn't our day. Martín Demichelis did a lot of work on the pitch; in the first half he was very unlucky with his own goal, but later on, he fought like a lion. Our team is still searching to find their shape and this is a continuing process. But that's normal, after losing a strong captain like Oliver Kahn. We must focus on our tasks and always try to have a positive attitude for the future.

Claude Puel, Lyon coach
This is a pretty good result for us, even if a victory would have been better. But in the end, the draw is fair. Bayern played very well, particularly in the second half. Our players made great efforts. The team played very courageously going forward and we were strong especially in the first half. We had a lot of chances and if we had been more efficient we could have won the match. Bayern were not able to play in their usual dangerous attacking style. We lost our rhythm in the second half, played more defensively and became more and more tired. So we weren't able to beat this strong team. Our group is very tough, every match is as tight as this one.
