Cassetti the latest casualty at Roma

AS Roma right-back Marco Cassetti will likely miss the Group A trip to FC Girondins de Bordeaux after injuring his right thigh in a training session which also left a question mark against Francesco Totti's fitness.

AS Roma right-back Marco Cassetti is expected to miss the UEFA Champions League trip to FC Girondins de Bordeaux on 1 October after injuring his right thigh in training today.

Too soon
The Serie A club confirmed the nature of the injury to the 31-year-old Italian international but gave no indication of his likely return to action. However, Roma's Group A date with Bordeaux in France should come too soon for Cassetti, who played the 90 minutes of the Giallorossi's surprise Matchday 1 defeat by Romanian visitors CFR 1907 Cluj. He joins a casualty list at the Stadio Olimpico which features Juan, David Pizarro, Júlio Baptista and even captain Francesco Totti, who limped out of training today because of pain in his right knee which was operated on in April.

Totti trouble
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti said of the Totti situation: "The knee continues to give him trouble but he needs to learn to live with it. However, when it is really bad, like it was this morning, he just can't ignore it. But these problems seem to be normal after the type of surgery he had." Totti, 31, has made two substitute appearances this season – against CFR Cluj and then in Saturday's 3-0 Serie A victory over Reggina Calcio.
