Guti has joined the list of injured midfielders at Real Madrid CF after being ruled out of action for a minimum two weeks with a tear in his lower right calf.
'Unfortunate'
With Fernando Gago already sidelined for a month with a left thigh tear and with Wesley Sneijder recovering from knee ligament damage, the sight of Guti being carried off on a stretcher 44 minutes into last night's 2-0 win at Real Racing Club Santander was a major cause for concern for Bernd Schuster. The coach's fears were realised when the club announced that the 31-year-old would miss four games, including the UEFA Champions League Group H trip to FC Zenit St. Petersburg on 30 September. "The injury to Guti is unfortunate as we've already lost Gago and Sneijder in that position," Schuster said. As well as the European date, Guti will be absent for Liga fixtures against Sporting Gijón, Real Betis Balompié and RCD Espanyol.
