Inter complete signing of Quaresma

FC Internazionale Milano have completed the signing of Portugal winger Ricardo Quaresma from FC Porto for an initial €18.6m fee – with midfielder Pelé also moving in the opposite direction.

Transfer fee 
The 24-year-old Quaresma has accepted an initial five-year contract with the Italian champions after passing a medical. He joins compatriot and coach José Mourinho at the San Siro while Portuguese Under-21 international Pelé, who is valued at €6m, travels the other way as a makeweight. The total cost of the Quaresma transfer could rise to €30.6m depending on appearances.

International recognition
The wide man came up through the Sporting Clube de Portugal ranks, making his debut during the 2001/02 campaign. He was bought by FC Barcelona in the summer of 2003 but managed only ten Spanish Liga starts before switching to Porto 12 months later. During his ensuing four-year spell with the 2004 European champions, he won successive Portuguese titles between 2006 and 2008, establishing himself in the Portugal squad. He has scored three goals in 23 internationals, featuring twice for Luiz Felipe Scolari's team at UEFA EURO 2008™.

Recruitment drive
Quaresma becomes Mourinho's third summer recruit following the arrivals of midfielder Sulley Muntari and winger Mancini, from Portsmouth FC and AS Roma respectively. The Nerazzurri, who began their Serie A championship defence with a 1-1 draw at UC Sampdoria on Saturday, have parted company with Pelé after just 15 Italian top-flight appearances. The 20-year-old had been brought to Inter from Vitória SC of Guimaraes last term.
