FC Bayern München midfielder Hamit Altıntop will be absent for an indefinite period because of a reaction to a metatarsal injury sustained on international duty in March.

EURO appearances
The 25-year-old broke a bone in his right foot during Turkey's 2-2 draw in Belarus and was sidelined for two months before returning for UEFA EURO 2008™, where he played all five of the Crescent Stars' matches. However, Altıntop felt pain in his foot during Bayern's German Cup game at FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt on 10 August and missed the Bundesliga opener against Hamburger SV. Although the Gelsenkirchen-born player then lasted 63 minutes of Saturday's 1-1 draw at BV Borussia Dortmund, he has been advised by club medics to rest the foot. Bayern have given no indication of when he is likely to play again.
