The 1.95m-tall centre-back was unveiled on Wednesday and watched Standard draw 0-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie with Liverpool FC at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium. Signed by Milan from São Paulo FC in 2004, Digão is under contract with the Italian side until 2013 though the 22-year-old has made only two competitive appearances for the club and between 2005 and 2007 was loaned to Serie B team Rimini Calcio FC. He is the second defender to leave Milan this week after Dario Šimić joined AS Monaco FC.
