Barça's Crosas wends his way to Celtic

UEFA Champions League group stage contenders Celtic FC have signed midfielder Marc Crosas from FC Barcelona in a deal which could rise to €1.4m.

The 20-year-old defensive midfielder will link up with the Scottish champions although Barcelona retain the option to buy back the player for €2m at the end of the 2009/10 season and would receive 25 per cent of any transfer fee should he be sold on to another club. Crosas – who was paraded before the Celtic Park crowd prior to the Glasgow club defeating Saint Mirren FC 1-0 in their season opener on Sunday – did not turn out in the Spanish Liga for the Catalan giants although he did feature in the UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, making eight appearances for the French champions.
