Reduced drama
That initial result removed much of the drama from this tie and Dinamo increased their advantage 17 minutes into the decider when Igor Bišćan fired in after a free-kick had taken a rebound. The Slovenian champions did not let their heads drop, however, and went into the break level thanks to Danijel Brežič's 29th-minute effort, the midfielder steering in Andraž Kirm's low centre from the right.

Shakhtar mission
Spectators were then treated to three goals in the second half, starting when a fine Mirko Hrgović effort after 54 minutes gave the former HNK Hajduk Split winger his first Dinamo goal since moving to Zagreb three weeks ago. Once again the visitors equalised, this time courtesy of Darko Zec after the home defence had failed to clear a corner in the 81st minute, but only three minutes later Dinamo were back in front on the night. Ante Tomić sent in a corner and defender Dino Drpić headed in to ensure that Dinamo will meet FC Shakhtar Donetsk for a group stage berth.
