Few chances
Standard have secured the 24-year-old's services for an undisclosed fee, with Benko putting pen to paper on an initial 12-month contract with an extension option. The striker's opportunities at Nürnberg, relegated from the Bundesliga in May, were reduced by injuries, limiting him to ten substitute appearances spanning two seasons. Before that, Benko scored 18 goals in 68 Croatian league games for NK Varteks. His new club, Standard, will take on Liverpool FC in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round later this month.
