Chelsea FC have signed FC Porto right-back Bosingwa on a three-year contract after the Portuguese international agreed terms in London today.

Large fee
Porto broke the news this morning, revealing that they will be paid €20.5m for a 25-year-old defender who played 23 times as they retained their Liga crown this season. Born in DR Congo to a Portuguese father and a Congolese mother, Bosingwa emigrated to Portugal as a youngster and was discovered by Porto's local rivals Boavista FC. Converted from a midfielder to a right-back, he moved to Porto in 2003 and eventually took over the first-team slot vacated by Paulo Ferreira when he followed coach José Mourinho to Stamford Bridge. He will move to England after UEFA EURO 2008™.
