Today our aim was to get the win. It was a hard game, as we expected, so I want to congratulate all my players. They did their best tonight as Sevilla are a strong team and their players have been together for a long time. It was hard to beat them but we showed good creativity all over the pitch. Both teams played attacking football and had chances to win the game but we were a little bit better that Sevilla. Edu's own goal can happen to any player – it is not a big deal. In his position sometimes mistakes can bring this kind of result.

Manuel Jiménez, Sevilla coach
We are very sad. From the first minute of the game our aim was to win and I think we deserved to do that, but we lost. But to score two goals in an away game makes us feel better. If the score had been 2-2 we would have been very happy and would have had the advantage for the second game. The funny thing is, with the first and second goals, we conceded when we were in control of the game. Once again I experienced that football is about 90 minutes and you never know what will happen until the game ends. Fenerbahçe are a strong and experienced team but we are looking forward to meeting them at home.
