Valencia get bad news on Alexis

Valencia CF defender Alexis has been ruled out for four months after spraining ligaments in his left knee in Saturday's 2-0 victory at RCD Mallorca.

Valencia CF defender Alexis has been ruled out for four months after spraining ligaments in his left knee in Saturday's 2-0 victory at RCD Mallorca.

Quick departure
The 22-year-old lasted just three minutes before being taken off the pitch with tests on Monday revealing that he had damaged posterior cruciate ligaments. He has thus been forced out of the squad on the eve of Valencia's first training session under Ronald Koeman, who replaced Quique Sánchez Flores as coach last week. Alexis had played in six league games and one UEFA Champions League match for Valencia since joining from Getafe CF in the summer. He joins Carlos Marchena (left thigh), Rubén Baraja (right thigh), Santiago Cañizares (left hip) and Edu (knee ligaments) on the Valencia sick list as they take on Rosenborg BK in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
