Knut Tørum, Rosenborg coach
We fooled you about our formation today, but that was because we wanted to confuse Valencia a bit. We try to compose a team to get the most out of the best players we have, and we succeeded in that. We got a great response from the players from the first kick; we won the ball early and attacked. It's a long time since I have experienced such a will to run and a joy in playing that we showed in the first half and parts of the second half. Of all my happy experiences with Rosenborg, this is probably among the top three. It was fantastic to experience the great Champions League atmosphere at the stadium tonight. It was a great day at work. It was great the ball ran our way and very satisfying to see the players get rewarded after putting in so much work. I had a great time today, and have to put that behind me first. If I was to quit at the top, maybe I should quit today! I guess we will be in the picture all the way to the last match [at FC Schalke 04]. Chelsea [FC] won today, and if we can nick some more points in the next two matches, we can go to Germany with the edge.
Quique Sánchez Flores, Valencia coach
We played a very good and aggressive team. They scored two goals in ten minutes, and then we felt that the race was almost over. Our tactics was to play the ball quickly, but Rosenborg put on pressure over the top, which made it difficult for us. We had a good chance through Joaquín, but then they scored on the counterattack. We tried to play more on the wings in the second half, which is a strength of ours. The game could have gone either way, but when Rosenborg scored the first goal we knew it would be difficult. We didn't underestimate them, we knew Rosenborg won the league last year and have a long history in the UEFA Champions League. We really expected more of our own team. [We didn't miss David Villa], we came here from a great game against RC Deportivo La Coruña, where we played without him. That is no excuse for this defeat. We had more than enough good players to win this match.
