Sevilla FC man of the match Luis Fabiano assessed his performance in the Matchday 3 victory over FC Steaua Bucureşti as a major step forward in his bid to establish himself at the club.

'Feeling confident'
Fabiano created one goal and made a hard-working, stylish contribution which played a major part in an important win for Juande Ramos' side. The striker was understandably delighted at the impact he had on the game. "There are not many better things in the world for a striker to be feeling confident and scoring goals," said the Brazilian.

"Really achieving"
"I feel that I'm on top form and I want to draw as much out of it as is possible," he continued. "I'm enjoying my run of goals but although it's a good personal feeling there is nothing better than the fact that my run of form contributes to the team and the club doing well in this competition. My job is to work hard and score and there is no question that I'm really achieving that and doing my job well.

"Hard times"
"When you are a striker that means that you become the fans' favourite and the media want to talk to you," he added. "But, with all due respect, I've had hard times when people didn't appreciate me, when no-one was congratulating me and the fans had a different view. Things can change so quickly in football that I think I want to keep my head down, keep working and keep on trying to achieve things for the team. It's nice to be the centre of attention but when you don't score that goes away."

Scoring streak
The 26-year-old now has eight goals in nine games but, crucially, has effectively won Sevilla's last two games by scoring twice at Levante UD last weekend and the second against Steaua to keep his club in touch with Arsenal FC in Group H. "The idea now is to win the next match and then try to keep ourselves in touch until we can play Arsenal," he confirmed. "We can qualify by finishing second in the group, and this result has put us in touching distance of that, but we want to beat Arsenal and finish top if that's possible."
