Celtic told to rest Nakamura

Playmaker Shunsuke Nakamura is an injury doubt for Celtic FC's UEFA Champions League tie against SL Benfica on 6 November after being told to rest by team doctors.

Nakamura is struggling to shake off an injury sustained against FC Spartak Moskva in the third qualifying round, and has been advised to rest to cure tendinitis in his left knee. The 29-year-old Japanese international was an unused substitute in last week's 1-0 Group D defeat at Benfica, and although he started Saturday's 3-0 win over Motherwell FC, he is expected to sit out tonight's Scottish League Cup quarter-final against Heart of Midlothian FC. Netherlands striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink could feature against Hearts, however, after overcoming a hamstring problem.
