Article summary
FC Internazionale Milano are facing a defensive crisis ahead of next week's Group G trip to Fenerbahçe SK after Romania's Cristian Chivu dislocated his shoulder.
Article body
Fenerbahçe trip
The Romania captain, recruited from AS Roma in July in exchange for €13m and Italy Under-21 defender Marco Andreolli, was replaced after 24 minutes in Cologne. Inter medical staff have immobilised Chivu's shoulder and said he does not need surgery. No estimates have been placed on his return, although the 26-year-old will certainly miss next Wednesday's Group G match at Fenerbahçe SK.
Defensive problems
Coach Roberto Mancini is now deprived of five defenders for that fixture as Marco Materazzi is a long-term injury victim while Nicolás Burdisso, Maicon and Iván Córdoba are all suspended.
