Husref Musemić said that his FK Sarajevo team will go to FC Dynamo Kyiv with only victory in mind despite defeat in the home leg of their third qualifying round tie.
Early goal
The Bosnia-Herzegovnian champions were beaten 1-0 by their Ukrainian counterparts last night, so they will at least have to equal that result in the return on 29 August to progress to the group stage. Maksim Shatskikh scored the only goal of the UEFA Champions League contest early in the first half and this allowed the visitors to sit back and soak up all the hosts could throw at them.
Optimistic note
After seeing his side go close on several occasions in the second half, Musemić said: "Although Dynamo have a great advantage, we will not go to Kiev holding up a white flag. We didn't play badly. The first half was good. We conceded the goal due to a mistake and whenever Dynamo threatened it was because of our own failings. We showed we can live with the best teams in Europe. My players gave their all, as did our fans."
Job done
Dynamo boss Anatoliy Demyanenko was also a happy man after his team's professional performance left them contemplating a return to the group stage. "We came to Sarajevo to take a hold on the tie. We did that and we will surely now play in the UEFA Champion League this season. My team have not reached their best form yet, but we accomplished our goal. The players were smart and did enough to win, but nothing is guaranteed and we will have to be careful next time."
