FC Dynamo Kyiv have made their second summer signing by landing SC Palmeiras midfielder Michael a week before beginning the defence of their Ukrainian title.

Surkis pleased
The versatile 24-year-old left-sided midfielder has scored twice in 40 league matches for Palmeiras in his native Brazil since 2003, having previously played for SC Corinthians. Dynamo president Ihor Surkis said: "The negotiations are finally over. This player, who can be used not only on the left, but also on the right and behind strikers, has an excellent work rate and good pace."

'Strong club'
Michael was delighted by completing the move to European football in a transfer reported to be worth €3m. He said: "I know that Dynamo is a very strong club which for many years has been taking part in the UEFA Champions League. They can be in a way compared to Corinthians and Palmeiras, because they are always the centre of attention and have a big fanbase." Dynamo, who must overcome a third qualifying round tie in order to reach the UEFA Champions League, previously acquired the 22-year-old Le Mans UC 72 forward Ismaël Bangoura.
