Sevilla FC fans will be heartened by the news that tough-tackling captain Javi Navarro will see out his career with the two-time UEFA Cup winners.
Winning mentality
Navarro has been an integral part of Sevilla's success story since signing from Valencia CF six summers ago, appearing in the back-to-back UEFA Cup final victories against Middlesbrough FC and RCD Espanyol. The centre-back also helped his side win the UEFA Super Cup with a resounding 3-0 defeat of FC Barcelona last August, before lifting the Copa del Rey in June following Sevilla's third-place finish in the Primera División which booked a UEFA Champions League qualifying berth.
Lucrative deal
"He has agreed to stay with us," said Sevilla president José María del Nido. "We'll sit down next week to work out a contract. Our captain has decided to commit to Sevilla for the rest of his career." Del Nido also hinted that Navarro's efforts would be rewarded with a lucrative deal. "He will receive a contract representative of everything he has given to us over recent years." Navarro has scored four goals in 168 league appearances for the Andalusian club.
