Kovačević out to inspire Olympiacos

Olympiacos have continued to rebuild for next season with Serbia striker Darko Kovačević becoming the Greek champions' second new face in as many days.

Olympiacos CFP have continued to rebuild for next season with Serbia striker Darko Kovačević becoming their second signing in as many days.

Busy time
The 33-year-old has agreed a one-year contract with the Greek champions who yesterday added defender Paraskevas Antzas to their summer recruits, having previously acquired Argentinian duo Leonel Núñez and Luciano Galletti. Kovačević was available after leaving relegated Spanish side Real Sociedad de Fútbol and arrived in Athens last night to complete negotiations.

High hopes
"I hope it is going to be a very positive experience and hope to win trophies with Olympiacos," said the forward, who scored 92 goals in 261 league games for Real Sociedad. "I don't like to make promises but I want to help the team achieve its objectives, to win the title and to do well in the Champions League." Olympiacos, who have been linked with Real Madrid CF defender Raúl Bravo, will hope Kovačević can fill the gap left by Rivaldo's departure for AEK Athens FC when they enter the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League group stage.
