Rangers FC have completed the signing of defender Carlos Cuéllar from Primera División side CA Osasuna for a fee believed to be in the region of €4.2m.
Sixth signing
The 25-year-old centre-back, who played against Rangers on Osasuna's way to last season's UEFA Cup semi-finals, has signed a four-year deal at Ibrox after passing a medical and agreeing terms this morning. He becomes Walter Smith's sixth addition of the summer following the arrivals of Jean-Claude Darcheville, DaMarcus Beasley, Graeme Smith, Kirk Broadfoot and Alan Gow.
'Excellent addition'
"We're delighted to sign Carlos," said Smith. "We were impressed with him when we went to watch Osasuna before our UEFA Cup tie and also in the tie itself. We then followed up on that and decided to make an offer to Osasuna. I'm very pleased that we have now done the deal and I feel sure he will be an excellent addition to our squad." Scottish Premier League runners-up Rangers begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in the second qualifying round against Montenegro's FK Zera or FBK Kaunus of Lithuania.
