Bayern made three telling substitutions in the second half and grew in strength. They played more long, dangerous passes in the second half and psychologically we were afraid - like when a tennis player stiffens up on a crucial point. Both teams performed better than in recent games and our supporters were also a great help to us. It was important to get a win as the Champions League is such a major competition, but the next match in Spain [a derby against Club Atlético de Madrid] is important too.

Madrid began better than us and we had problems containing them defensively. After we equalised we began to have more control. That second goal came from a defensive mistake and so did Madrid's third. After I made some changes in the second half, we played with more dynamism and our second goal was reward for that. Our performance in the second half gives us encouragement for the future, although we have some problems in defence to sort out and we need to stop giving the ball away so cheaply. I can never accept a defeat but this was a positive result for us.
