Glittering career
Gattuso, who has been capped 50 times by the Azzurri, joined Milan from Salernitana Sport in 1999 after stints at AC Perugia and Rangers FC. The Italian international, a member of the 2006 FIFA World Cup-winning squad, has played 218 Serie A games for the Rossoneri, scoring five goals. The combative 29-year-old helped them claim the UEFA Champions League title in 2002/03 and Scudetto success the following season.
Injury threat
On a less positive note, Gattuso's team-mates Filippo Inzaghi and Dida are due to undergo tests on Friday after sustaining injuries during Milan's 3-1 Coppa Italia defeat at AS Roma on Wednesday. The 33-year-old goalkeeper, who has recently returned after a two-month lay-off with a quadricep tendon complaint, damaged his right shoulder while Inzaghi, also 33, must have an examination on his right thigh. The Rossoneri will hope the test results do not rule the experienced duo out of their UEFA Champions League first knockout round first-leg tie at Celtic FC on 20 February.
