The 32-year-old Brazilian is likely to be unavailable for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie against Liverpool FC on 21 February, as well as the two Copa del Rey quarter-final ties against Real Zaragoza. Sylvinho has made two appearances in Europe this season, in addition to his nine Primera División outings. There is better news for Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard with forwards Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi both in the latter stages of rehabilitation following their respective kneecap and metatarsal injuries.
