Jesualdo Ferreira has signed a one-year extension to his contract as FC Porto coach, binding him to the Portuguese champions until the summer of 2008.
Extended deal
The coach, who succeeded Co Adriaanse in August, was initially tied to the club until next summer but he has agreed to spend another 12 months at the Estádio do Dragão, where president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa wanted a longer-term commitment with the 60-year-old.
Top spot
Ferreira made his name with Porto's Liga rivals SL Benfica, where he was assistant coach and then head coach from the beginning of 2001/02 until the start of the following season. He subsequently led SC Braga into Europe during a three-year spell there, before briefly taking charge at Boavista FC this summer from where he defected to Porto. His side top the Liga table and are sure of a place in Europe in the spring.
