Gavilán adds to Valencia concerns

Valencia CF's injury list lengthened after the club confirmed Jaime Gavilán will be out for around six months after suffering a cruciate ligament tear.

Valencia CF midfielder Jaime Gavilán could miss the rest of the season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament tear during last night's Primera División encounter with Real Racing Club de Santander.

Bad news
Ten minutes into the 1-0 defeat, the 21-year-old suffered a blow to his right knee and was taken off. Initial examination suggested a one-month absence but the club have now confirmed that the Spanish Under-21 international is set to be out for "six to seven months".

Injury list
Valencia are top of UEFA Champions League Group D with nine points after three successive victories and a fourth win at FC Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday will take them through. However, they will also be without David Albelda (knee ligaments), Asier del Horno (achilles), Rubén Baraja (pulled calf muscle), Vicente Rodríguez (sprained ankle ligaments) and Carlos Marchena (cruciate knee ligament) for the trip to Ukraine.
