Reds reeling from Kuyt blow

Liverpool FC's Netherlands striker Dirk Kuyt will miss the Reds' UEFA Champions League trip to FC Girondins de Bordeaux after being injured on international duty.

Liverpool FC's Netherlands striker Dirk Kuyt will miss the Reds' UEFA Champions League trip to FC Girondins de Bordeaux after being injured on international duty at the weekend.

Out of action
Kuyt strained ankle ligaments when falling awkwardly during the Netherlands' 1-1 UEFA EURO 2008™ draw in Bulgaria on Saturday and has been ruled out of tomorrow's qualifier against Albania. Of greater concern to Liverpool is the fact he will be sidelined for Saturday's Premiership match against Blackburn Rovers FC in addition to the UEFA Champions League Group C game in Bordeaux on 18 October. The 26-year-old, who has scored twice in six appearances since moving to Anfield from Feyenoord in August, also faces a race to be fit for Liverpool's fixture at Manchester United FC on Sunday week.
