Cocu doubtful for Bordeaux trip

PSV Eindhoven captain Phillip Cocu is expected to miss the Dutch club's Group C trip to FC Girondins de Bordeaux later this month after tearing a thigh muscle.

PSV Eindhoven captain Phillip Cocu is expected to miss the Dutch club's UEFA Champions League match at FC Girondins de Bordeaux after tearing a thigh muscle.

Bordeaux doubt
It is not known how long the 35-year-old midfielder will be out of action but he will almost certainly be unavailable for the trip to France on 27 September. "That game might come too soon," said coach Ronald Koeman. "It's a tear and you have to be very careful with that. Phillip is a player who usually recovers pretty fast, but making the Bordeaux match is the best-case scenario and that will be difficult. I think he'll be fit for the international week at the start of October." Cocu also sat out the beginning of PSV's Group C campaign, being suspended for Tuesday's goalless draw with Liverpool FC.
