Kluivert goes Dutch again at PSV

Former Netherlands striker Patrick Kluivert has returned to the Dutch Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven, who also signed Jan Krompkamp and Diego Tardelli.

Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven have signed former Netherlands striker Patrick Kluivert from Valencia CF and current international defender Jan Kromkamp from Liverpool FC.

Travelling marksman
Kluivert, whose former clubs include AFC Ajax, AC Milan and FC Barcelona, has agreed a one-year deal with PSV with the option to extend his stay if the move is a success. PSV were looking for a replacement for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who left for Celtic FC last week.

'Best option'
The Dutchman quits Valencia after a solitary season in which he made ten appearances following a transfer from Newcastle United FC. "PSV was the best option for me," said Kluivert. "With Valencia I did not get to play football. The Netherlands has not seen much of me over the past two years, but I feel good. I am 30 years old and eager to give my all. The Eredivisie has changed a lot, but I think I will get used to it."

Kromkamp switch
Kluivert will be accompanied to PSV by right-back Kromkamp, who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract to end his short stay in England with Liverpool FC. The 26-year-old, who appeared 133 times for AZ Alkmaar before linking up with Villarreal CF last summer, swapped Spain for Liverpool in January but was limited to 14 Premiership outings for the Reds.

Tardelli transfer
PSV, who parted company with Australian defender Lindsay Wilson today, also completed a late move for Brazilian forward Diego Tardelli who joins from São Paulo FC on a one-year loan. The 21-year-old played in Europe for Real Betis Balompié last season.
