FC Internazionale Milano have unveiled new signing and Italian FIFA World Cup winner Fabio Grosso – a player whose transfer from US Città di Palermo they had secured before the tournament in Germany.
Undisclosed fee
The 28-year-old left-back, who converted the winning penalty in last Sunday's World Cup final shoot-out against France, arrives at Inter for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a contract until 2010.
Vital goal
Prior to his spot-kick heroics, Grosso had already consolidated his fine showing at the finals by scoring the 119th-minute goal that broke the deadlock in the 2-0 semi-final victory over Germany. In all, he played in six World Cup matches to take his tally of Azzurri caps to 23. Grosso, whose Serie A debut came against Inter for AC Perugia during the 2001/02 campaign, had spent the last two and a half seasons in Palermo. He registered 90 league appearances for the Sicilian club, scoring two goals.
