PSV pick up Mexican Salcido

Mexico left-back Carlos Salcido has been rewarded for his displays at the FIFA World Cup after becoming PSV Eindhoven’s third summer signing.

The 26-year-old, who took his cap count to 36 by playing in all four of his country’s games in Germany, will join Portuguese defensive starlet Manuel da Costa and goalkeeper Oscar Moens as the club plot their UEFA Champions League campaign. Salcido has spent the past five seasons with CD Guadalajara in his homeland. He has already played at the Philips Stadion, when Mexico were beaten 2-1 by the Netherlands in a pre-World Cup friendly on 1 June.
