Record run
The Czech international goalkeeper has added two years to the four-year deal he signed when joining the London club from Stade Rennais FC in the summer of 2004. His first season in England was a triumph, as Čech helped Chelsea win the championship and English League Cup while setting a Premiership record by going 1,024 minutes without conceding a goal.

"I am very pleased," the 23-year-old said. "When I joined Chelsea I just wanted to get in the team and win some trophies. I managed that last season and have been rewarded with a new contract already. Now I want to win some more trophies."
