Article body
Andriy Shevchenko scored four times to help AC Milan to an emphatic 4-0 away victory against Fenerbahçe SK in Istanbul. The result leaves the Serie A outfit at the top of UEFA Champions League Group E while ending the Turkish team's own hopes of reaching the knockout stage. The best Fenerbahçe can now hope for is a UEFA Cup berth.
Carlo Ancelotti, Milan coach
My players were highly focused and played with serious intent, so they deserved the three points. Shevchenko played excellently tonight - he analysed the Fenerbahçe defence and knew how to beat them, but the whole team played really well and I congratulate all of them. This team has shown great spirit again and we hope to go as far as we did last year.
Christoph Daum, Fenerbahçe coach
Milan were the better side for the entire 90 minutes and I congratulate them. I wish we could play more games like that because in our domestic league, when we make mistakes like we did tonight, we still win. But at this level, you will always lose playing like that. I don't want to be too critical, but my team disappointed me so much. I was sad that after two goals my players lost their motivation and didn't seem to try. I don't understand it.
