Rangers FC striker Nacho Novo has been ruled out for six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery on a broken bone in his left foot.

Rangers FC striker Nacho Novo has been ruled out for six to eight weeks after breaking his foot. The 26-year-old Spaniard fractured the fifth metatarsal on the outside of his left foot in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Scottish Premier League leaders Heart Of Midlothian FC, and will undergo surgery on Monday

Artmedia double-header
He is not expected to return until November and will miss Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League fixture at FC Internazionale Milano, as well as the Group H double-header against FC Artmedia Bratislava on 19 October and 1 November. The club have targeted a provisional comeback date of 8 or 9 November, when Rangers take on Old Firm rivals Celtic FC in the Scottish League Cup.

Pršo burden
Novo will be a major loss for Alex McLeish's side, having scored 28 goals in 56 appearances for Rangers since joining in 2004. Much of the Scots’ attacking burden will now fall on Croatian forward Dado Pršo as the Glasgow club bid to build on their 3-2 win against FC Porto on Matchday 1.
