Squillaci agrees in Principality

AS Monaco FC have extended France defender Sébastien Squillaci's contract by two years until June 2009.

Seven-year stay
The 24-year-old French international has been at Monaco since 1998, helping them to the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League final and third place in last season's Ligue 1. He won the first of his eight caps a year ago against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Betis tie
Monaco, who won their 2005/06 Ligue 1 opener 1-0 at newly-promoted AS Nancy-Lorraine on Saturday, begin their Champions League campaign in Spain at tournament newcomers Real Betis Balompié next Tuesday in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie.
