Lahm lengthens Bayern deal

FC Bayern München have tied Philipp Lahm to the club until 2009 after extending his contract by two years.

Early extension
Lahm's previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2007 but the current Bundesliga champions were keen to secure his services beyond that time. The 21-year-old penned the new deal today and committed his future to Bayern despite currently being out of action after suffering cruciate ligament damage in May.

Stuttgart spell
Lahm has spent the previous two seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart, in which time he matured as a player and also earned the first of his current total of 15 caps for his country. Bayern welcomed the 21-year-old back to Munich in the summer when the loan deal with Stuttgart expired. Lahm, who played 53 Bundesliga matches for Stuttgart, is expected to return to competitive action in November.
