Article body
Velicka opener
Rimkevicius hit a second-half double to end HB's hopes of launching a staggering comeback after Andrius Velicka had calmed any home nerves with the game's opening goal a minute before the interval. That strike took Velicka's personal tally to three from the two legs following his goals in the 4-2 win in Torshavn last week.
Zelmikas goal
The Lithuanian club's striker Rimkevicius doubled the lead on the night after the hour before adding his second and Kaunas's third with seven minutes remaining. There was still time for defender Irmantas Zelmikas to score his second in two Champions League matches and seal a comprehensive 8-2 aggregate victory.
Suspension worry
There was one slight negative for the victorious side's Russian coach Aleksandr Piskariov who saw three players receive yellow cards. He will have seven players a booking away from suspension when Liverpool, who today completed a 6-0 aggregate win against Total Network Solutions FC, travel to Lithuania for the second-round first leg next week.
