Santos spot on for Vålerenga

Vålerenga IF 1-0 FC Haka A second-half penalty from Freddy Dos Santos separates Scandinavian rivals.

A second-half penalty from Freddy Dos Santos was all that separated Vålerenga IF and FC Haka as the Norwegian side took a slender advantage from the home leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie.

Visitors denied
The Scandinavian derby looked likely to be a tight affair and it took a 53rd-minute spot-kick from 28-year-old midfield player Santos to deny the Finnish visitors a share of the spoils. A draw next Wednesday will be enough to take Vålerenga through.

Friday draw
Haka, who edged out Armenian side FC Pyunik 3-2 in the last round, will nevertheless still fancy their chances of reaching the third qualifying round, the draw for which takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday.
