FK Partizan right-back Nemanja Rnic could be out for up to five months after breaking his fibula in an accident in training.
Crucial surgery
The highly-promising Serbo-Montenegrin international broke the bone in his right foot after a collision with Nigerian striker Obiore Odita. The 21-year-old will undergo surgery tonight but initial examinations suggest he could be sidelined until the New Year, ruling him out for both Partizan and the international team's 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Sheriff task
The loss is a blow for Partizan coach Vladimir Vermezovic, whose side defeated FC Sheriff 1-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round last week thanks, coincidentally, to a goal from Odita.
'Terrible situation'
A win in Moldova on Wednesday will seal a tie with either FC Artmedia Bratislava or Celtic FC but for now Vermezovic is reflecting on other things: "It's a terrible situation. Two of our players wanted the same thing - to be professional during practice. I hope he’ll be with us as soon as possible."
