Robinho has completed his long-awaited transfer to Real Madrid CF after agreeing a five-year contract.
Negotiations complete
Nine days ago Madrid announced that they had reached a deal with Robinho's club Santos FC over a €24m move. However, only today have they and the Brazilian champions completed negotiations over the financial conditions allowing the Spanish side to finalise the move. Robinho will now travel to Spain next month after Santos reach the halfway point in their 2005 fixtures, and the week before UEFA Champions League group stage entrants Madrid play newly-promoted Cádiz CF in their Primera División opener.
Club statement
A Madrid club statement read: "Real Madrid CF and Santos FC have today signed an agreement by which Robson de Souza 'Robinho' will join Los Merengues on 25 August. The player will sign a contract that will tie to him to Real Madrid for the next five seasons." Yesterday the club signed another attacking player, Julio Baptista, from Sevilla FC.
