Brazilian partnership
Deivid is believed to have signed a four-year deal with the 2005 UEFA Cup finalists, who enter this season's UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round, and will link up with compatriot Liedson in the Sporting front line.
Unfulfilled promise
Deivid arrived at Bordeaux from Cruzeiro EC in 2003, ostensibly as a replacement for the Paris Saint-Germain FC-bound Pauleta. However, he never lived up to billing, scoring just three times in 23 Ligue 1 outings before being loaned to Santos FC.
Return to form
During a season and a half back in his homeland, Deivid fared better, registering 26 goals in 48 games and dovetailing with Brazil starlet Robinho. His strikes helped Santos win the 2004 Brazilian championship.
