Jamarauli calls it a day

Anorthosis Famagusta FC's ex-Georgia midfielder Gocha Jamarauli has decided to retire from football aged 34.

Short spell
The Georgian international had only been with the Cypriot champions for a month, having linked up with player-coach and compatriot Temur Ketsbaia. Jamarauli joined Anorthosis on their pre-season training camp in Austria but decided to quit following the 1-1 draw at FC Dinamo Minsk in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie last week.

Personal situation
"I realised I cannot play at the top level any more, plus I am having some family problems. That's why I have decided to quit football," he said. Jamarauli is a product of the FC Dinamo Tbilisi academy but also played abroad in Russia, Turkey, Switzerland and Ukraine. He returned to Dinamo this January and helped them to the 12th title in their history. He was capped 62 times by his country, scoring six goals.
